At some point the majority of us will need to make decisions around our work, whether we are pursuing a job (a way to make money), a career (usually more goal-oriented and long-term than a job), or a vocation (work which brings joy – a calling).
Career counseling can help clients identify the barriers which may be hindering successful placement and retention of work. Career counseling can help clients identify their internal values, strengths, and interests and explore work opportunities which align with those areas.
Some skills and interventions used in career counseling are:
- Assessments (e.g. Myers-Briggs, Athletic Coping Skills Inventory (modified for career counseling), The Big Five Personality Test).
- Self-directed job seeking strategies.
- Mock interviewing, resume writing and review.
- Self-soothing and coping strategies.
Career Counseling Fees: $125.00 for a 50-minute session. Some sliding-scale openings may be available.
